Comments:

I have been married twice....15 yrs to Dan Yount-three sons...27 yrs to Lee Lincoln-a daughter and a son
I worked in Nashville TN for four years, then came out to CO to take care of my dad for five years...he is still very much with us and a joy in all of our lives..at 92! I met Richard Tracy two years ago..he is a criminologist...[participated a bit on Columbine...is a school security and threat assessment consultant....is on the State Gang Task Force and is considered a "gang expert"...we live near the AF Academy in the Springs....my two sisters, Annie and Janie are both married and, with their families, live here in Colorado as well.... my kids are all over...though Greg has just moved out to CO with his family in the past three months, which makes me very happy! Jordan is in Columbia MO..Mark is near Charlotte NC, Christy is in IL...preparing to move, hopefully, to SC and Clint is also in IL...thinking about going for his Masters...his degree, like Dick's, is n icriminology...

Dick and I married May 26 2012 and he died Dec 31 2012...of cancer. We were, as you see, married for six months... After the funeral, I proceeded to move out of the house in the Springs and move up north of Denver(about two hours away) to stay with my second son, Greg Yount, and his family. I was there for two years.... last of April of 2015, I moved to North Carolina... my third son, Mark Yount and wife, Jennifer, live in the little town of Cramerton.... I have a small house and a little SMART CAR.... tiny but mighty. It is a very different climate here and after 11 yrs in CO, it is proving to be a really big adjustment for me. I have been away from humidity AND pollen, for a long time... I am happy to be back among trees...have missed them.... but I have moved 7 times just since 2000 so Im a bit tired of moving and starting over. I hope I can make a life here and wont have any more moves. Time will tell. Mark is close by but all the rest of my family are hundreds of miles away... so that part doesnt make me happy... still... so many families are all spread out these days.. Thank goodness for cellphones and emails! :)
Id always love to hear from friends from Olney,,, I spent a lot of my life there!

School Story:

I attended ERHS until Christmas of my freshman year...then Dad was transferred to the Chicago office...I attended Barrington High School until my graduation in 1960 I attended one year of college at Northern Colorado U....before Dan Yount and I married and moved to Pearl Harbor Hawaii, where he was in the Navy, at the time...we moved back to Olney after his Naval duty was done and he went into the Olney Daily Mail with his dad..we had three sons....divorced after 15 years...he is now in Ohio, remarried... I later remarried Lee Lincoln, a construction project manager, moved to his farm west of Peoria IL...we had a daughter and a son...all the kids graduated from the school system in Avon...we divorced after 27 years...I worked in Nashville TN for four years, for JCPenney...then came to CO to take care of my dad..for five years...worked at Penneys, was downsized...worked for a veterinarian for a short while...somewhere in there, I met Dick...Dad went into assisted living...and Dick and I now live in CO Springs...
I lost my dad about a month and a half ago....he will be greatly missed by his large family and many friends....
Last year, my son, Greg moved out to Colorado with his wife, Karen, and their two sons, Connor and Hunter.....barely a week ago, my daughter, Christy, moved out here to give living in Colorado a try....I hope with all my heart that it works out for her as having two of my kids out here is just pure "heaven"! Im still hoping for at least one more of my kids to make the move....its a great place to live and, though IL will always be my "roots" and Ill always love it...Colorado is just the best, in my opinion!
I dont know what 2011 will bring....undoubtedly, at some point, there will be a "change" in my "relationship status"....but, for now....I am pretty content .....as long as those I love stay healthy...Ill be happy. Happy New Year!

Items remaining in your bucket list:

I hope to spend much more time with any and all of my kids and grandsons...I have no idea what lies ahead but do hope for some time to just "smell the roses" a bit....:)

I have moved since I wrote the above... grandsons are in CO....and family is all over the place but do our best to stay in touch. My bucket list is, I suppose, to try to enjoy whatever I enjoy and to. hopefully. make a life here in NC. I am attempting to write down family stories for my children as I can...before my memory goes! :) Ill add to this as I decide what it is I want to do from here on..... NOTE: Since I wrote this, I have moved to COLUMBIA, MO... eldest son Jordan Yount and his wife live here and my daughter Christy Lincoln, lives close by in St Louis..... I have my own place and, until this pandemic started and I had to start isolation( have been for 9 mos now)... it was lovely having time with them as well getting some time with my youngest son, Clint LIncoln, who is in IL.... but for now.... its staying isolated, wearing masks when I am with people and waiting impatiently for it to be over, like everyone else! :)

Events/Factors leading to current home location:

Im not sure this is where I should write this...not as familiar with the site as I should be! I was remarried to Richard D Tracy of Colorado Springs, CO on May 26.2012...he was a criminologist and on the Board of the Colorado State Gang Task Force...he had been diagnosed with cancer months before we were married. On June 26, one month to the day after our wedding, we had to evacuate our home due to the Waldo Canyon wildfires..Dick had just had a chemo treatment two days before and we were given 15 minutes to grab our two dogs, whatever else we could, and get out....we joined the congested traffic nightmare of 2000 people trying to leave the area..it took us 3 1/2 hrs to go what normally took us 10-15 minutes. Luckily, the house survived...many in our area did not. Then, in the middle of the summer, one of our beloved dogs got mysteriously ill....we had to put him down...from then on, we were really into the cancer fight...and Dick got to have Thanksgiving and Christmas with his family...he lost his battle on Dec 30, a Sunday, at dawn.... We were married for six months. I am preparing now to move north of here, closer to the Denver area, to be closer to the two of my five kids who live here in CO, as well as my daughter in law(Greg Yount and his wife, Karen) and their two sons, Connor and Hunter...and my only daughter, Christina Lincoln who lives in Denver proper. Needless to say, the past year has been one I will never forget...both good and bad...but I do hope that 2013 will be quieter and with much less 'drama'!

Hello everyone... just a note... its been a rather long year.... for most of us Im sure.... I have been isolating for the past year....after moving to be closer to more family, Ive been isolating! LIFE! But I am beginning to see family as I can... saw Jordan and his wife and my daughter Christy, weekend before last for the first time in many months.... was so good! I have had both shots but am still masking if and when I am out at all, except with these three kids.... until I get a chance to see the others..... we are all so spread out over the country.... Had a recent lovely talk with Tom Weber recently ...was so great! And I talk to David Stull and John pretty often on messenger... am in touch with Ann Weesner King and Delle Jacobs....through FB.... I try to zoom with all my kids once a week as we can... thank goodness for our techno world.....whether we grumble about it or not, its been a real blessing! :) Im still in Columbia MO.... made my last move in my "gypsy type" life lol... Loved my years in CO, glad to be back in the Midwest too... Hope all of you are doing well and are staying safe.... GET YOUR SHOTS! Will be so good to "get back to normal", wont it?! Have a lovely weekend...we , however, will be getting RAIN! oh well......:) Oh btw.... in this past year of isolation, Im not looking "blond" any more....lol Nope...back to my brown hair.... glad to say that my Dads genes won out and not much gray..........YET! lol Been sharing lots of funny stories about hair color and guys and their beards since this started! Bye for now....Marti Melrose-- class of 60

I dont remember Karen as she was a bit older than I  ( she graduated in '50 and I graduated in ' 60)  but Mom and Dad( Ed and Mary Jane Melrose) were friends of Daisy and Verner...and Pop and Verner worked together at Pure Oil in the late forties and early fifties....brings back memories of Olney in a special time of childhood in Olney and dear friends of Mom and Pops.... Karen sounds like a very lovely lady..... RIP

HI Marti....Wishing you a Happy Birthday on your Special day with a day full of blessings and the year ahead. I'm so glad we were able to get reconnected again a few years ago after all those years.....what fun we've had catching up! Happy Birthday!!

Just a note:  I only found out a few months ago what had become of my bf of several years.... broke my heart to know Id never be in touch with her again. I had tried in vain for so long to do so. We were bf's until my family moved to  a suburb of Chicago in Christmas of my freshman year of hs.... she was a year ahead of me and over time, and as I moved again...to Colorado... and then to Hawaii...before I returned to Olney... we lost touch. We had such a wonderful time as friends when we were in junior high school and  over our summers.... and as I started to join her at ERHS. I will always miss her. She was a very special friend .
