GREG ROBERTS

I Graduated from the University of Illinois in Metallurgical Engineering and moved to Ocala, Florida after getting married in 1991 to work for the aerospace/defense industry in manufacturing and quality control. We moved to St. Petersburg in 1998 for employment purposes. My last full time position was with L-3 Communications where I was Director of QA and the Senior Manufacturing Engineer where we built the airport luggage scanners for the TSA and ammunition components for the military. In 2010, I completed an MBA program in marketing & finance. In 2014, we started a manufacturing company that makes shock absorbing seat pedestals for offshore boats. Julie owns the company and employs me as the General Manager.

Substitute teachers were always an opportunity for humor at ERHS. I remember one such day we had the beloved Marshall Provines in our math class. Someone had taped a playboy centerfold to the graphing chart that was rolled up like a window shade above the chalkboard. He rolled it down for us to go over the homework assignment and was really embarrassed. Then he got really mad and I remember him saying “The party is over folks.” It was a quote we all repeated over and over and would never forget.

Living in St. Petersburg is closer to paradise than anywhere that we have ever found. The weather is amazing and the roads and beaches are not too crowded. There is almost everything to do but snow ski. I have learned to have an active social life without getting into trouble and while keeping my priorities of work, home and church. I consider myself semi-retired now and donate half my time to the GoWorship Network organizing Christian concerts and events. Julie and I also collect food and donations each week to support several church pantries and the outreach program at our home church the St. Pete Vineyard.
