Larry Lee Gray - Class Of 1965

Larry Lee Gray

Larry Lee Gray, 66, of Austin, Texas passed away on December 9, 2012, of natural causes in his home. Larry was born on December 7, 1946, to parents Donald and Ruth Gray of Olney, Illinois.

He grew up in Olney, and he attended Southern Illinois University, where he received his Bachelor of Science and Masters in Business Administration. Larry had a 40-plus year business career, which included 15 years as an executive for oil companies in Houston, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar; several entrepreneurial ventures in Houston and Austin; and the last several years at Roger Beasley Volvo in Austin. His friends and co-workers uniformly describe him as one of the nicest, most selfless men they ever had the fortune to meet.

The most important thing in Larry's life was his family. In 1980, he married Rhonda Elliott of Houston, a registered nurse who also passed away too early in 2005. Larry and Rhonda had their first child, Adam Gray, on December 25, 1982. Adam is an attorney, and he lives with his wife Katerina in San Francisco, California. Larry and Rhonda's second child, Kelly Gray, was born on March 25, 1987. Kelly is currently in law school at Baylor University. Larry's children loved him and will miss him more than words can describe. Larry enjoyed spending time with his family and running around Town Lake in Austin, where he could be seen some mornings running up to ten miles at the age of 65.

Larry is survived by his son and daughter, his mother Ruth, his sister Mary Jean and her husband Gerald, and their daughters and families, all of whom he loved tremendously.
