Even though Dick Hahn was probably in high school when I was born, I eventually had the privilege of meeting him when my husband, family and I first rented his home on Hahn Lake. We were visiting Olney for one of my high school reunions, which I had been looking forward to with great anticipation. Rushing to settle in and get ready for the evening, Dick Hahn arrived to see if we had made it there okay and to orient us to his home and legacy. Let me tell you... it was an unexpected honor to meet him! We got the full tour and history of his family home, how he and his brothers helped his father build the dam that created the 24 acre Hahn Lake and planted all the cedar trees that surrounded the lake. The stories that ensued were heartwarming! Along about 7:30 p.m., while we were all sitting at the kitchen table, Dick announced that it was his 70th Birthday and that he had better get back home to his wife so they could celebrate. 
It was this endearing soul that shone with brilliance, that made us feel like his family, that I will always cherish. 

It would take a great net to cast over all his friends.
