Dr. Joseph Franklin Von Almen, Jr., age 77 of Lewisburg, Tennessee, died Thursday, June 21, 2012 at his residence.

He was a native of Dyersburg, Tenn., son of the late Joseph Franklin, Sr. and Geneva (Jones) Von Almen. He graduated from medical school at the University of Tennessee in Memphis later serving his residency at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, Virginia. Dr. Von Almen later went into private practice in Lewisburg and retired in March 2012. He served his country as a medical doctor in the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Lewisburg First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Muriel (Click) Von Almen, of Lewisburg; daughter, Laura Frazer of Lebanon; son, Martin Von Almen of Eagleville; sister, Jan Ehleben of Rock Island and two grandsons.

Funeral services were conducted in the First Methodist Church with burial in Lone Oak Cemetery with military honors. London Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
