Eber Adams - Class Of 1918

Eber C. Adams, age 77, of Hammond, Indiana passed away Saturday, May 31, 1975 at St. Margaret Hospital. Mr. Adams was born February 27, 1898 in Olney, Illinois son of Robert and Florence (Gray) Adams.

Mr. Adams was a retired shift-foreman in the Asphalt Department for the Standard Oil Company, where he worked for 35 years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hammond, a resident of Hammond for 52 years and a Veteran of World War I. He was Past Commander and member of World War I Barracks. He was appointed National Aide-DeCamp for the World War Barracks. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 80 of Whiting, a member of the Junior Order of American Mechanics and a member of the Indepemdent Order of Foresters, member of the Standard Oil Annuitants Club.

He is survived by his wife, Mary R. (Reid) Adams; one daughter, Mrs. Doris (Walter C.) Boldt of Munster, Ind; one son, John C. (Joan) Adams of Des Peres, Mo; seven grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Edith (Earl) Wachtel, Olney, Ill, Mrs. Florence (Norman) Roney of Noble, Ill and Mrs. Mildred (Walter) Groff of Joliet, Ill; one brother, Eldo (Lela) Adams of Olney, Ill and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services held at First United Methodist Church, Hammond, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond.
