Ardys (King) Elder, 88, a retired nurse at MacNeal Memorial Hospital, died Wednesday, December 10, 1980 at the hospital, following a lengthy illness. Ardys was born August 31, 1892 in Richland County Illinois, daughter of Joseph W. and Sarah L. (Askew) King. She married William Elder in Cook County in 1916 and he preceded her in death in 1960.

Mrs. Elder, a 39-year Berwyn resident, had recently been a resident of the Scottish Home in North Riverside, Illinois.

Survivors include two daughters, Ardys Baron and Jean Purdin; three grandchildren ad one great-grandchild.

A memorial service held at the Scottish Home, North Riverside conducted by Rev. James W. McGathery, Chaplain of the home.  Interment was private at Valley Memorial Gardens, Mc Allen, Texas. Arrangements made by Abram & Son Funeral Home.
