George Edward Banghart - Class Of 1913

George Edward Banghart, 75 year old machinist of 22 Signal Hill Blvd, Belleville, Illinois died unexpectedly yesterday afternoon, June 14, 1967 apparently of a heart attack.

Mr. Banghart was found unconscious in the rear yard of his home and was pronounced dead at 5:30 pm upon arrival at St. Elizabeth hospital in a Holten Ambulance. Members of the family who had been in St. Louis made the discovery upon their return.

Mr. Banghart was born in Olney, Illinois on February 14, 1892 son of John K. and Martha A. (McLaughlin) Banghart. On September 6, 1920 George married Mattie R. Boley in Ohio.

At the time of his retirement, Mr. Banghart had completed 17 years service with the American Brake and Shoe Company.

Surviving are his wife, the former Mattie Boley; a daughter, Gloria, wife of John Stumbaugh; a brother, Charles Banghart of Salt Lake City, Utah and five grand-children.

The funeral will be held at 1 pm Saturday from the Christian Missionary Allegience Church, East St. Louis in Mt. Hope Cemetery. Friends may call at the Holten Funeral Home, E. St. Louis until noon Saturday, when the body will be taken to the church.
