Edwin O. Wilson - Class Of 1906

Edwin O. Wilson, 88, lifelong resident of Olney passed away Saturday evening, October 28, 1972 at Lawrence County Memorial Hospital, Lawrenceville.

Mr. Wilson was born in Richland County, October 28, 1884, the son of Samuel C. and Emily Jane (Welty) Wilson. He was first united in marriage with Lulu E. White, June 17, 1908. She preceded him in death April 9, 1933. Mr. Wilson was remarried Sept. 27, 1934 to Mary Jane White, who also preceded him in death, Nov. 25, 1947. Later he was married with Pinkie E. Goss Oct. 12, 1949.Mr. Wilson was a well-known citizen of the community, having been one of the partners of the Butler Street Milling Co. and an employee for 16 years of the Prairie Farms Dairy, Inc. from which he retired in 1964. Four months ago, he and his wife moved to the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville.

Mr. Wilson was a faithful and active member of the First United Methodist Church in Olney, and a 50 year member of the Olney Lodge No. 140 A.F.& A.M. He also retained membership in Olney Lodge No. 87, White Shrine of Jerusalem, Olney Chapter No. 100, Order of Eastern star, and the Modern Woodmen of America.

He is survived by his wife, Pinkie; two daughters, Mrs. C. C. (Mildred) Reeder of Tucson, Ariz., and Mrs. Roy (Dorothy Jean) Hostettler of Bloomington; 2 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his first and second wives, he was preceded in death by four brothers, I. N. (Newt), William E., Charles F., and Thomas C., and two sisters, Mrs. Mary Adda Heap and Mrs. Anna Ralston.

Funeral services for Mr. Wilson were held in the Chapel of Zirkle Mortuary with Dr. W. A. Robinson officiating assisted by Dr. Ernest M. Dycus. Interment in the Haven Hill Cemetery.
