Clytus I. Prather - Class Of 1906

Clytus Ilus Prather, 60, of  Decatur, Illinois, right-of-way superintendent for the American Telephone & Telegraph Company, died Saturday, November 1, 1947, in Carle Memorial Hospital, Urbana, Illinois, where he had been a patient since September.

Born in Claremont, Illinois, January 9, 1887, son of John M. and Laura (Heath) Prather, he was married to Mary Jane Alcorn, October 17, 1916.

He moved to Decatur from Chicago in 1928. Mr. Prather’s job was to handle all matters concerning right-of-way for the A.T. & T. in the Midwestern States. Whenever the company ran new toll lines, he was charged with securing the necessary right-of-way.

Mr. Prather was a member of the Decatur Club, Decatur Country Club, Masonic Lodge, and Elks Club.

Surviving are his wife, and a daughter, Mrs. Mary Jane Robbins of Schenectady, N.Y.

Funeral services at the Dawson & Wikoff  Chapel. Burial in Fairlawn Cemetery.
