Bert H. Willis - Class Of 1906

Services for Bert Harrison Willis, 73, of McCamey, Texas, were to be held in the Assembly of God Church with burial in McCamey Cemetery.

Willis, a retired oilwell driller, died late Saturday, October 28, 1961 in the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Big Spring, Texas.

Mr. Willis was a WW I U.S. Army veteran.

He was born October 17, 1888 in Hardinville, Illinois the son of Henry and Anna (Higgins) Willis. He was married October 11, 1919 to Velva A. Baker in Lawrenceville, Illinois. He moved to McCamey in 1940.

Survivors include his wife, Velva Willis; two daughters, Mrs. Virginia Hoyler of Ft. Worth and Mrs. Naomi Nelson of Pecos; one son, Vincent Willis of McCamey; two brothers, Dewey Willis of Pampa and Chelmer Willis of Robinson, Illinois; three sisters, Mrs. Bessie Gustin of St. Louis, Mrs. Mary Carter and Mrs. Hazel Snyder, both of Lawrenceville, Illinois and seven grandchildren.
