Walter Henry Shultz - Class Of 1905

Walter H. “Bud” Shultz, 82, of 214 South Fair Street, lifelong Olney citizen and highly respected Insurance Agent since 1935, died Friday afternoon, February 28, 1969 at the Richland Memorial Hospital, following a lengthy illness.

Mr. Shultz was born in Olney on January 7, 1887, son of Phillip and Sarah (Robinson) Shultz. He was the former owner of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Olney, was a lifetime member of the Olney Elks Club, as well as being a member of the Board of Trustees of the Elks Club for 39 years, was a member of the Board of Directors of the Olney Savings and Loan Association for many years, was Secretary of the Richland County Fair Association for approximately 20 years and was a member of the School Board for three terms. He graduated from Olney Township High School in 1905.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. W.T. (Martha) Griffin of Olney and Mrs. Richard (Elizabeth) Dugan of Rt. 1, Dundas, and a sister, Mrs. Favor Gilbert of Louisville, Illinois. His wife, Anna (Sterchi) Shultz died on August 27, 1939.

He is also survived by four grandsons, Rick, Mike and David Dugan, all of Dundas and Bill Griffin of St. Louis.

Funeral services held in the Chapel of the Schaub Funeral Home with the Rev. R.E. Dowden in charge. Interment in Haven Hill Cemetery.
