Carl Walter Allison - Class Of 1905

Carl W. Allison, 63, principal of the Champaign High School since 1928, died Friday, March 31, 1950 at Dwight Veterans Hospital. He had been taking a semester’s leave of absence and entered the hospital in February with a heart condition.

Allison was born in Olney, Illinois, son of Clinton W. and Ermina (Creek) Allison, and was graduated from the University of Illinois. He taught at Dundas, Illinois from 1913 to 1917 and then became principal of the grade school at Hibbing, Minnesota.

He was in the Army during World War I and then became assistant superintendent of schools at Gilbert, Illinois, before coming to Champaign. From 1938 to 1942 he was president of the Illinois High School Principals’ Association.

Surviving are his widow, Viola; two sons by a previous marriage, Carl Walter Allison, Jr and Donald Gordon Allison.

Services at University Place Christian Church, Champaign. Graveside service and burial at Haven Hill Cemetery, Olney.
