Dr. S.M. Frutiger dies at hospital in Olney, Ill.

Dr. Samuel Marvin Frutiger, 77, a dentist in Eldon, Missouri for 20 years died about 5 a.m. Tuesday, October 17, 1961 in Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney, Illinois. He had been hospitalized about 2 weeks due to a heart attack.

Services were held at Summers Funeral Home in Olney with interment at Haven Hill Cemetery there.

Dr. Frutiger was born December 30, 1883 in Olney, a son of Jacob and Elizabeth (Buri) Frutiger. On September 21, 1910 he was married to Glenn Elinor Roberts.

Dr. Frutiger was a railroad mail clerk before receiving his degree and entering the dental profession. He had an office in St. Louis for the practice of dentistry before he and his wife moved to Eldon on October 20, 1940. He opened an office here, and continued his dental practice so long as his health permitted.

Mrs. Frutiger preceded her husband in death November 21, 1960. He was hospitalized at Jefferson City at intervals last winter and had continued in declining health.

On May 28 he went to Olney where he stayed in a rest home until entering the hospital.

Dr. Frutiger was a member of the Eldon Methodist Church and of the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by a brother, Chris Frutiger of Olney and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Hursta of Olney.
