Mrs. Bess Willard (Wharf) Richardson, 81, of Santa Paula, California, died February 14, 1968 at her home, according to word received here by relatives.

Memorial services were held at the First Presbyterian Church at Santa Paula.

Mrs. Richardson was born in Olney, Illinois in 1886, daughter of Thomas M. and Rhoda (Houser) Wharf.

She graduated from Olney High School in 1904 and shortly thereafter moved to California, where she later graduated from the University of Southern California. She taught school for a number of years in that state. Later she was married to Grant Richardson who was a rancher. After his death she moved to Santa Paula to be with her daughter, Mrs. Alice Hazeltine.

She is survived by her daughter and two grandsons, Richard and David Hazeltine.

Her parents and an infant son, Edwin F. Richardson preceded her in death.

She was a sister to the late DeWitt J. Wharf, and the late Edward J. Houser was her uncle.

Mrs. D.J. (Edith) Wharf of 320 West Chestnut street is a sister-in-law of the deceased who received word of her death.
