George V. Wagner - Class Of 1929

George Vernon Wagner, 72, 610 S. Morgan, Olney, died Thursday, July 16, 1981 in Richland Memorial Hospital.

Services will be in the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ with Rev. David Walters presiding. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery, with military rites at graveside conducted by Olney Veterans organizations. Visitation in the Zirkle Funeral Home. Memorials can be made to the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ Church Building Funds.

Mr. Wagner was born May 18, 1909 in West Liberty, the son of William and Lula (Hudson) Wagner. He married Cora Lee June 24, 1934 in Marshall and she survives.

He operated Wagner’s Barber Shop in Olney for 40 years, retiring April 1, 1971. He was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ and a World War II veteran.

Other survivors include two sons, George E., Slidel, La.; Frank L., New York City, N.Y.; two brothers, Raymond, Moline; William, New Port Richey, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Charles (Helen) Black, Clay City; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Glen; and a sister, Kathryn Wagner.
