Paul E. Smith, 63, of Olney died Tuesday, June 17, 2003 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield. Services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home with burial in Dundas Cemetery.

Mr. Smith was born on April 16, 1940 in Noble, the son of Creel and Mabel (Holston) Smith. He married Lori Powers on September 4, 1982. She survives.

He was a former police officer for the City of Olney and Richland County Sheriff’s Department. He was owner and contractor of Smith Building & Remodeling.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Lori Smith of Olney; two sons, Ryan and Adam at home; a daughter, Nicole at home; a daughter from a previous marriage, Debra Roberts and her husband, Chris of Seattle, Wash.; two sons from a previous marriage, Darrel Smith and wife, Sandy of Dundas and David Smith and his wife, Jennifer of Olney; a sister, Treva Burris and her husband, Ronald of Kokomo, Ind; and two grandchildren, Cody Smith and Kamara Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
