Marjorie Jean Geiger (Janes) - Class Of 1946

Marjorie Jean Geiger Janes, 87, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, in her home.  Services at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church with Rev. Richard Weltin, Celebrant.  Burial in Fairlawn Cemetery, Decatur.

Marjorie was born October 22, 1928 in Ste. Marie, IL, the daughter of John J. and Bertha (Keller) Geiger. In 1946 she graduated from Olney Township High School. When she moved to Decatur in 1949, she lived next door to her future husband, Marion Janes. After a whirlwind courtship, they married in January of 1950.

Marjorie loved to create beauty all around her. She loved sewing the latest outfits for her girls, and planting flower gardens. She truly loved porcelain china painting and participated in many seminars and art shows. She was a member of the World Organization of China Painters and Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Marjorie and her husband, Marion B. Janes owned Janes Cleaners on Eldorado Street for many years.

Marjorie is survived by her four daughters, Ann Janes and partner Karen Rousey of Normal, Kaye (David) McGann of Denver, CO, Amy (Bruce) Conway of Champaign and Karen (David) Prince of Cape Coral, FL; grandchildren, Christopher Davis, Erik Davis, Emma Prince and Abby Prince; great-grandchildren, Christina Davis and Kaliyah Davis; sister, Marilyn Rubsam of Newton and brother, James Geiger of Alexandria, LA; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
