OIL DRILLING RIG ACCIDENT CLAIMS THE LIFE OF A NOBLE MAN IN WHITE COUNTY

 (CARMI) A Noble man is dead after an oil drilling rig accident this past Monday night in White County. Hamilton County Coroner Steve Bowling says 20 year old Joseph D. Musgrave was pronounced deceased at the Hamilton County Hospital in McLeansboro after the accident occurred at 10:45 Monday night in a rural area just south of Carmi. The crew for Consolidated Drilling Service, based in Terre Haute, Indiana, was pulling drill pipe and laying it in a tub, when the elevator line broke and a drill stem collar fell to the rig floor, striking Musgrave. The incident is under investigation by the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office.

Joseph Dayne Musgrave, 20, of Noble, Illinois died on Monday, July 26, 2021 at Hamilton County Hospital in McLeansboro, IL. Joe was born on November 29, 2000 in Olney, Illinois, the son of Justin Dee O'Dell and Kelly Musgrave.

Joe was a genuinely good person that will be dearly missed by his many friends and family.

Joe is survived by his parents, Justin and Kelly O'Dell, Noble, IL; brother, James O'Dell of Noble, IL; sister, Caitlyn O'Dell (Robert Casolari) of Flora, IL; maternal grandparents, Laural and Earl Musgrave of Noble, IL; paternal grandfather, Dennis Parmenter; paternal grandparents, Frank and Nancy O'Dell of Olney and Kathy Judnick of Corpus Christi, TX; uncles, Jesse Musgrave and Eva of Noble, IL,  Joseph O'Dell and Karla O'Dell; and Jeremy O'Dell and Janice of Crystal Lake, IL; aunt, Misty Tracy and Tim Bare of Olney, IL; uncle, Aaron Parmenter of Missouri; many cousins and friends.

Cremation Rites were accorded. A Celebration of Joe’s life will be held at a later date.

A scholarship fund in Joe’s name was established at First National Bank called the Joseph Musgrave Scholarship Fund.

So sorry to hear and read this about young Mr Musgrave, but we have known his grandfather Earl for many years. And always thought Earl was such a good guy. Sorry to read this Earl!! Our condolences and prayers for all at this time of tragedy.
