Jerry Mullens (Rcms -S. E. )

Jerald "Jerry" R. Mullens, 67, of Olney, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Sunday, March 14, 2010, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, Ind. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney with Rev. Father Jerry Wirth officiating. Burial in Bruceville Cemetery in Bruceville, Ind.

Mr. Mullens was born July 16, 1942, in Bruceville, Ind., the son of Riley and Margaret (Arnott) Mullens. He married Mary C. "Chris" Nix on June 3, 1972, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney.

He was a retired teacher, having taught at Mt. Carmel North Middle School and East Richland Middle School, teaching special education for many years. After retirement, he continued teaching with the Building Trades program. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney and Indiana National Guard.

Mr. Mullens is survived by his wife, Mary C. "Chris" Mullens, of Olney; mother-in-law, Mary Nell Nix, of Olney; daughters, Emily Loerakker and her husband, Martijn, of Mundelin; Sarah Searcy and her husband, Kaleb, of Chicago; and Elizabeth Bolden and her husband, Mel, of Camby, Ind.; son, Jason Mullens, of Camby, Ind.; sister, Betty Mullens, of Bruceville, Ind.; brother, George Mullens, of Vincennes, Ind.; brother, Robert Mullens, of Benson, Ariz.; brother, Bill Mullens, of Vincennes, Ind.; sister, Norma Crouch, of Bicknell, Ind.; sister, Shirley Mullens, of Bruceville, Ind.; sister, Agnes Kolehouse, of Vincennes, Ind.; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Riley and Margaret (Arnott) Mullens; four brothers, Riley Jr., John, Steve and Jim Mullens; and one sister, Mary Mullens.
