Effie Ulm (Claremont Elem -1)

Mrs. Effie Elizabeth Ulm, 59, wife of Robert M. Ulm, and resident of German Township since July 1952, died unexpectedly late Saturday night, March 6, 1965 at the Richland Memorial Hospital. She had been a patient there for eight days.

Mrs. Ulm was born near Decatur August 2, 1905, daughter of William and Shonk Weiler McCane, later moving to Olney and Richland County, where she lived for many years, She was, at the time of her death, the first grade teacher in Claremont School, and was highly regarded for her wonderful personality and excellent capabilities by everyone who has known her. She was a member of the Prairie Chapel Evangelical United Bretheren Church in Lawrence County for many years, but has been a very faithful member of the Olney E.U.B. Church of recent years.

Besides her husband, Robert M., who has been one of the counties most respected citizens for many years, living in the Amity neighborhood, she is survived by a step-son, Wendell Ulm, living in Granite City; a brother, Harley McCane of Philadelphia; and two sisters, Mrs. Harley (Olive) Greenfield of Decatur and Mrs. Russell (Mary) Richards of Olney.

Funeral services in the Evangelical United Bretheren Church of Olney, with the Rev. Maurice L. Winn officiating. Interment in Haven Hill Cemetery.
