Joan Marie Huber Cunningham, 84 passed away August 4, 2012. She was born December 21, 1927, in rural Sainte Marie, daughter of Louis and Marie (Culbertson) Huber. She married James Cunningham August 2, 1945; he died February 19, 1973.

She graduated from Newton Community High School, the Class of 1945 and graduated from Illinois Teachers College, later, Eastern Illinois University. Joan taught for thirty five years, beginning in elementary schools in Jasper County and completed her teaching career after teaching science for twenty years at the East Richland Middle School. Joan was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Olney.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and two brothers.
