Ruth Higgins, 93, of Parkersburg, died Monday, October 6, 1997, at Burgin Manor Nursing Home in Olney. Services at Ingram Funeral Home in West Salem with Rev. Don Tharp officiating. Burial in Moravian Cemetery in West Salem.

Higgins was born Oct. 4, 1904, in Richland County, the daughter of William and Emma (Baker) Loos. She married Harry Higgins June 1, 1929, in Olney. He preceded her in death April 7, 1993.

She worked at Bridgeport School and taught school at Bone Gap, Palestine, West Salem and Olney. She was a member of the Richland County Retired Teachers Association and Berryville Christian Church.

She is survived by one son, Jon Higgins and his wife, Marianne, of Escondido; two grandchildren, Megan Chalabian and Mitch Higgins; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Harry and Ralph Loos, and two sisters, Lucille White and Alice Moore.
