Leona Doan (Claremont Elem -6)

Leona Maude (Doan) Davis, 101 of Olney, died Sunday, December 13, 1998 at Burgin Manor Nursing Home in Olney. Funeral services at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney with Rev. WIlliam Strickland officiating. Burial at Haven Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Davis was born on June 30, 1897, in Richland County, the daughter of Amos and Ida (Hostettler) Doan. She married George Hardman Davis Nov., 23, 1949. He preceded her in death in 1955.

She was a retired school teacher, the first president and life member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Olney, a past musician of the VFW, a lifetime member of the World War I Auxiliary, a longtime member of the Teachers and national Wildlife organizations and was a member of the Swedenborgian Church.

She is survived by eight neices, Katherine Oney of St. Louis; Lora Dowty of Claremont; Ruth Lyke of Sarasota, Fl.; Eleanor Hoff of Noble; Betty Rtosafort of New York; and Joan Satterthwaite of Lawrenceville; four nephews, Robert Doan of Olney; Ronald Doan of Texas; John Doan of Illinois and Ron Doan of California and three cousins, Richard Hardman of Tucson, Az, and Jerome Baehl and his wife Midge of Haubstadt, IN.

She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, Roy, Raymond and Maywood Doan and several nephews.
