Freida Pittman (Central Elem -1)

Freida M. (Pittman) Miller, 89, of Arcadia, Florida passed away peacefully with her family by her side on December 26, 2013.

Freida was born in Rinard, Illinois on October 20, 1924, to the late Oscar and Marion Pittman. She was the last living of four children.

She moved to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1963 and later moved to Arcadia in 1971. Freida worked as a school teacher and after retirement she became a C.N.A. working in Okeechobee. She also worked at the shipyard in Evansville, Illinois as a welder, helping to build ships and barges which were used during WWII. She loved caring for and spending time with her family and her animals. She was of the Baptist faith. Freida was a very loving and caring woman and will be greatly missed by her family.

Freida is survived by her son, James W. Miller, II of Okeechobee; daughters, Carol A. Fox (Tim Crites), Valerie J. Robinson (Walter), Mary E. Newberry (Curtis) and Sue E. Seavey (Fred Williams) all of Arcadia; 16 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

Freida was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Miller.

Services at Buxton and Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne R. Cooper officiating. Burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
