Gertrude T. Weber (Gassmann) - Class Of 1912

Gertrude Weber Gassmann, 97 of Olney died Thursday, August 26, 1993 in Richland Memorial Hospital, Olney. Services in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Olney with the Rev. Fr. George Mauck officiating. Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Gassmann was born September 21, 1895 in Ingraham, Illinois daughter of George T. and Elizabeth Hausner Weber. She married Zean G. Gassmann on June 25, 1919 in Olney. He preceded her in death on June 10, 1981.

She was a member of St. Joseph Church, Olney. She was a homemaker, a dietitian at the Olney Sanitarium for many years and a dietitian at Richland Memorial Hospital in Olney from 1953 until her retirement.

She was involved in many community activities and received the WVLN Community Service Award in 1966.

Surviving are her sons, Henry of Olney and Frank of Madison, Ind.; daughters, Mary Stonecipher of Olney, Katherine Schaub of Fremont, Calif.; Martha Kraeger of Chicago, Gertrude Reynolds of Rockford; sisters, Mary Porter of Fairfield, Dorothy Eagleson of Olney, Ann Therese Alberts of Kettering, Ohio, Sally Adamson of Arlington, Va.; 41 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three sons, George, Zean Jr. and John; two daughters, Elizabeth Vaughn and Barbara Harris; six sisters and five brothers.
