Alfred J. Kaser - Class Of 1920

Alfred J. Kaser, 68, of St. Petersburg, Florida died suddenly of a heart attack, June 16, 1969, while visiting in Lafayette, Ind., yesterday. Services at Central Presbyterian Church in Lafayette, Ind. Mr. Kaser was born November 7, 1900 in Olney, son of Jacob and Rosa Kaser.

Mr. Kaser, who was one of Olney High School’s great athletic stars and later one of the leading insurance representatives in the Midwestern states had retired four years ago to a beach home in the St. Petersburg area.

After beginning his business career in Olney with Prudential Insurance Co., he advanced to become manager of the Lafayette, Ind. district for the company, a position from which he retired after over 20 years service in this position.

He was a member of the Olney High School basketball team of 1920 which took fourth in the state tournament, and played halfback on some of the great OTHS football teams of this period.

He is survived by his wife, Helen; daughter, Mary Roe Crompton of Niagara Falls, N.Y.; sons, Alfred C. Kaser of Rockford, IL, Robert Kaser of Lafayette, Ind. and sisters, Kathryn Mullen of Casey, IL, Gertrude Ross of Salem, Martha Freeland and Marie King, both of Olney.

He was preceded in death by a son, Captain James F. Kaser who was killed in a Strategic Air Command plane crash near Spokane, Wash., September 10, 1962. He was pilot of the plane which crashed killing 44 persons.
