Jan Hardy (Doan) - Class Of 1952

Jeannette "Jan" M. Doan, 79, of Olney, formerly of Claremont, IL, passed away on Monday, January 20, 2020 at Carle Richland Memorial Hospital. Jan was born on August 27, 1940 in Blue Island, IL, the daughter of Frederick and Georgia (Smith) Hardy.  She married James E. Doan on April 18, 1962 in Cook County, IL and he preceded her in death.

Jan taught genealogy classes for 40+ years at Olney Central College and was an avid traveler. She enjoyed time with her family and reading. She was active in the Claremont Community Center as well as being a founding member of the Richland County Genealogy Society. Jan didn’t know a stranger, she often returned home from bus tours with connections made to her kids or someone else she knew. She always had the time to talk to you to get an update on what you had been up to and how your family was doing. She will be missed by many.

Jan is survived by four sons, William (Beverly) Doan of Jackson, MO, James H. Doan and daughter-in-law Leigh Anne Doan of Olney, Randall (Vickie) Doan of Olney, Gregory (Michelle Stinson) Doan of Elgin, IL; daughter, Allison Doan of O’Fallon, IL; nine grandchildren, August Doan, Benjamin Doan, Madison (Will Quigley) Doan, Luke Doan, Seth Doan, Stephanie (Codie) Blake, Matt (Heather Runyon) Richards, Michaela Doan and Natalie Doan; three great grandchildren, Aubrey Vancil, Weston Blake, and Gracelynn Wilson; sister, Anita (Mike) Flynn; brother, Harry Hardy; sisters-in-law, Laura Hardy and Betty Rosafort; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Doan; parents, Frederick and Georgia (Smith) Hardy; in-laws, Raymond E. and Iola (Farquhar) Doan; brother, Glenn Hardy; brothers-in-law, Robert Doan, Raymond Doan, Donald Doan, Frank Doan, and infant Paul Eugene Doan; sisters-in-law, Katherine Oney, Ruth Lyke, Lora Dowty, Eleanor Hoff and Joanne Satterthwaite; nephews, Denny Oney, Bobby Gene Doan, Larry Dowty, Sam Doan, Tom Doan, and Steven Rosafort; nieces, Kathryn N. Flynn, Janet Nadler, and Linda Gumble.
