Barbara Skelton (Lewis) - Class Of 1957

Barbara Ellen (Skelton) Lewis, 77, of Ladson, SC joined her husband of 58 years, Ivan Lewis, in heaven on February 23, 2016. A Celebration of Life Service conducted at Deer Park Baptist Church. Rev. John Moore and Rev. Stephen Carr officiating. Entombment in Dorchester Memory Gardens. Rev. Vollie Gibbs officiating.

Mrs. Lewis was a native of Olney, Illinois having made her home in Charleston for more than 50 years. She was a proud homemaker and military wife(Navy). After her children were grown, she was employed as a library/media assistant at Charleston Southern University. She also was employed by the late Admiral Paul Pihl. Mrs. Lewis was a faithful member of Deer Park Baptist Church and known for her love of family, faith, and friends. She was an avid reader and enjoyed sewing, especially quilts, blankets, and pillows she made for family and friends.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Rod(Julie) Lewis of Ward, SC; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda(Kim) Tapply of Summerville, SC; and a son and daughter-in-law, Mark (Lori) Lewis of Summerville, SC; brother, Richard Skelton, sister, Marcy Jessup; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Bertha Nichols Skelton; brothers, Vernon, Robert, Warren, Jack, Kenneth and Donald and sister, Vivian Earp.
