Constance Rose Murphy, 83, of Fredericksburg, Virginia, died Monday, February 29, 2016, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Mrs. Murphy was born July 14, 1932, in Olney, the daughter of Mary Evelyn Quillen and William Vernon Peer. She graduated from Urbana High School in Urbana in 1950. On June 10, 1949, she married Frank Murphy Jr.

Connie kept God first in her life, faithfully attended the Lutheran church, loved her family, and was an outstandingly thoughtful, compassionate, and humorous woman. She enjoyed tending her gorgeous plants, making delicious meals, and specialized at hostessing family get-togethers.

Survivors include her husband, Frank Murphy; her four sons, Kevin Michael (Nancy), David Frank (Laura), Geoffry Earl (Kay) and Daniel Neil (Kimberly); her daughter, Lisa Murphy Phillips (Andrew); her 16 grandchildren, Heather Murphy, Jenny Murphy, James Murphy, Jacci Murphy, Kristin Patrick (Edward), Erin Rittenhouse (Nate), Aimee Doyle (Jamie), Neil Murphy, Nicole Murphy, Mac Phillips, Jhonni Phillips, Isabel Phillips, Aaron Phillips, William Phillips, Nils Carter (Misty) and Ivoree Smith (Tyrell); 13 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Sandra Peer Kubbs (Alan), of Champaign, and Mary Alice Peer Fehrenbacher (John), of Olney.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Richard Lowell Peer; and sister, Juanita Darlene Peer Leaf.
