Anita M. HuntAnita M. Hunt, 86, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois died Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015, at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon.

She was born Friday, Nov. 23, 1928, in Richland County, the daughter of Ephraim and Laurena (Radke) Brookfield. She married James Lewis Hunt on June 30, 1949, in Olney; he preceded her in death on July 20, 1995.

She is survived by two sons, Bruce Hunt and wife Mary Ruth of San Diego and Bradley Hunt and wife Maritta of Denver; three daughters, Brenda Price and husband Gary of Mt. Vernon, Beverly Adams and husband Keith of Bonnie and Barbara Nieskes and husband Mike of Hudson, Wis.; nine grandchildren, Oliver Hunt, Molly Hunt Schwarz, Brooke Hunt, David Price, Claire Nieskes Amos, Kevin Nieskes, Brighley Hunt, Braxton Hunt and Bryce Hunt; great-grandchild, Copper Schwarz; sister, Jane Griesemer and husband Leonard of Indianapolis; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Bernard Hunt; and one infant grandson, John Michael Nieskes.

Funeral mass at St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon with the Very Rev. Father John Iffert officiating. Interment at  St. Mary’s Cemetery in  Mt. Vernon.

Anita was an insurance clerk for the home health department at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon before retiring and she was also a licensed beautician. She was a member of St. Mary Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon and was past president of the Ladies’ Auxiliary of the church, past president of the Home School Association and past president of Good Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary.
