Delbert S. Spitz, Sr., age 80 of rural Sumner, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. 

He was born July 21, 1931 in Richland County to Gilbert and Beatrice (Whiteside) Spitz. He married Illa Mae Linxwiler on November 24, 1955, and she preceded him in death March 2, 1995.

Delbert was a member of the United States Army during the Korean War. He was also a long-time member of the American Legion.  He retired from Victor Dana Corp. after more than 25 years of service. Prior to that, he worked in the local oil fields.

Delbert is survived by: one daughter, Jaquilla "Jean" Fox of rural Bridgeport: three sons, Jeffrey, Delbert, Jr., and Tony: and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents (Gilbert and Beatrice Spitz), his wife (Illa Mae Spitz), and two sisters (Katherine Burget and one in infancy).

A Funeral Mass held at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Bridgeport.  Burial in the Bridgeport City Cemetery.
