Tommy Shearer - Class Of 1949

Thomas F. Shearer, 68 of St. Francisville, Illinois, died Monday morning, October 26, 1998 at home of cancer.

He was born in Olney on February 2, 1930 son of Benjamin F. and Dessie (Everette) Shearer.  He married Louise M. Chaplin February 20, 1948.

He was a building contractor in Olney, owned Shearer Hardware, City Cafe and Laundromat and S&S Mobile Homes and retired from United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville. He was a member of First Christian Church and Carpenters Union Local 1188.

Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Louise M. (Chaplin); a daughter, Carla Coomes of Vincennes, Ind.; four sons, Steve of Princeton, Ind., Greg of Sumner, Tony of St. Francisville and Tim of Indianapolis; four sisters, Eunice Miller of Olney, Bertie Simons of Robinson, Mary Ann VanBlaricum of Oxnard, Calif., and Vonnie Crum of Claremont; a brother, Elmo of Oxnard; 14 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Services at First Christian Church, with burial in Mount Pleasant Cemetery south of Olney.
