Olney Man Killed

Noble – A 33- year-old Olney man was killed about noon Tuesday in Foster’s Garage, rural Noble, when the truck he was working on slipped off a jack and fell on him.

Robert Dean Foster was found dead by his brother, Gerald, who is the owner, and other employee of the garage. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:40 p.m. Tuesday, by Richland County Coroner, Susie Bromm.

The apparent cause of death, Ms. Bromm said, was traumatic asphyxiation. An inquest is pending. Foster had been working at his brother’s garage for about a month.

Robert Dean Foster, 33, of Olney died Tuesday, May 1, 1984 at Foster's Garage in Noble, Illinois.  Services at Summers Funeral Home with Rev. Robin Perkins presiding.  Burial in Ingraham Cemetery with military rites at graveside.  Robert served in the U.S. Air Force in Vietnam.

Mr. Foster was born March 5, 1951 in Clay County, the son of Bobby and JoAnn (Wilkins) Foster.  He married Peggy Jane Peters in Salem July 5, 1976 and she survives.

He was a mechanic and a member of the Pleasant Valley Church of Christ.

Other survivors include three step-sons, Garrey Holdrieth, Jack Ronald Holdrieth, Jr. and Jay N. Mewes; a step-daughter, Becky Jo Luther; a brother, Gerald; and his parents, Bobby and JoAnn Foster of Olney.
