Tillie Speicher - Class Of 1910

Merle “Tillie” or “Matilda” Speicher, 99, of Hialeah, Florida died at the Palmetto Health Center in Hialeah on September 12, 1992. Her body was cremated and a memorial service was held on her 100th birthday in Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney.

Miss Speicher was born November 14, 1892 in the area of Macsburg, 5 miles north of Olney, the daughter of Christian H. and Catherline (Swallen) Speicher.  Miss Speicher attended the one-room schoolhouse which has since been moved to the Olney City Park.  She moved to St. Louis, Mo. Where she was a custom dress-maker until her retirement in 1957.  She then moved to Miami, Fla.

Miss Speicher is survived by three nieces, six nephews and three cousins, Robert and Wendell Snively and Johnsie F. Fildes, all of Olney.

Miss Speicher was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, William Speicher and Palmer S. Speicher and two infant brothers and three sisters, Mary Jeannette Hemmer, Alma E. Minkler and Bertha L. Zimmerly.
