Dr. Wanda Newsum Gum, 89,  Hemet, Ca., and formerly of Olney, died Oct. 5, 1982 in Hemet.  Following cremation in Hemet, the remains will be returned to the Summers Funeral Home for interment in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Dr. Gum was born in Richland County, the daughter of James D. and Maria E. Newsum.

She was formerly an assistant Professor at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale; and was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Order of Eastern Star.

Survivors include a son, Robert Gum and wife of Hemet; and three grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Graveside services for in the Old Mausoleum in Haven Hill Cemetery with Rev. David McNabb presiding.
