Lela Miller (Schonert) - Class Of 1910

Jacksonville, Ill – (INS) – Using the belt from her dress for a noose, Mrs. Lela Schonert, 43, of Olney, hanged herself in the state hospital here today.

She had been a patient in the institution six months and during that time unsuccessfully attempted suicide on several occasions.

Lela (Miller) Schonert, daughter of Benjamin F. and Emma A. (Hyde) Miller was born January 9, 1897 and departed this life March 25, 1939, aged 42y3m22d. She was married to Harry E. Schonert, December 24, 1919. To this union was born two children, a daughter, Marie and a son Wayne.

She was converted into and joined the Ebenezer Church. She loved the church and was always ready to do her part and lend a hand to those in need.

She leaves to mourn her departure, her devoted husband and two children, Marie and Wayne, one sister, Mrs. Charles Decker of Olney, and one brother, Harry S. Miller, a number of nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Burial in Ebenezer Cemetery, south of Olney.
