Jessie K. Phillips, 82, 214 N. Boone St., died Wednesday afternoon April 10, 1974 at the Richland Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services in the chapel of the Zirkle Funeral Home with Pastor, David A. McNabb officiating. Interment in the Haven Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Phillips was born in Lawrence County October 10, 1891, the daughter of George and Alice Launer Kinkade.  She was united in marriage with Elmer Phillips September 17, 1915 in Olney.  Mr. Phillips preceded her in death March 19, 1958.

She was a graduate of Olney Township High School and graduated from Eastern Illinois State Teacher’s College in 1912.  When Mrs. Phillips applied for a teaching position at the old Dundas School, she walked the railroad tracks from Olney to Dundas.  She taught at Dundas from 1912-1916.

Mrs. Phillips is survived by one son, Jean of Bordentown, N.J.;  two daughters, Mrs. George (Dorothy) Yunck of Olney and Mrs. Clifford (Rosemary) Crouch of Houston, Texas; two brothers, Frank Kinkade of Peoria, Illinois and Byron of Kirkwood, Mo.; six grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
