Mrs. Ralph (Evelene) VanMatre, age 30 died at the Sanitarium last Friday evening, June 9, 1922, following an operation for goiter.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Elm Street Christian Church, Rev. Marlow, her former pastor, in charge.

Mrs. VanMatre was one of Olney’s most popular young women and her death was a shock to all.  She had recently recovered from an attack of pneumonia which left her in a weakened condition and unable to withstand the necessary operation for goiter.

She was one of our most successful and best liked school teachers, and her death is sincerely mourned by the community.

She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.J. Elliott, and besides her parents, is survived by her husband, Ralph VanMatre and one daughter, Helen.
