Kitchell Witcher - Class Of 1908

Dr. Edward Kitchell Witcher, 66, died September 17, 1957 in the Veterans Hospital in Kansas City. His death was attributed to a heart attack.

Dr. Witcher was born May 21, 1891 in Olney, Illinois the son of County Judge Robert Bledsoe and Bertha B. (Kitchell) Witcher. He married Gladys Parnham November 25, 1925 in Jackson, Missouri.

Private services for Dr. Edward K. Witcher, Medical Staff member at Eastern State Hospital here since 1944, will be in Kansas City with burial in Haven Hill Cemetery, Olney, Ill.

A native of Olney, Illinois, Dr. Witcher received his bachelor of arts degree from the University of Illinois and his medical degree from Northwestern University. He did post-graduate work in Vienna, Austria and in Edinburgh, Scotland. He practiced internal medicine several years in Pawhuska and Tulsa before coming to Vinita. He was president of the Craig-Ottawa Medical Society.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Gladys Witcher, Vinita; one daughter, Mrs. Don (Janet) Cole, Germany; three sisters, Mrs. K.R. (Alice) Elliott, Miss Harriet Witcher and Mrs. Joe (Elizabeth) Gordon, all of Dallas and one brother, Dr. Robert Witcher, Tulsa.
