Mary Bishop (Williams) - Class Of 1908

Mrs. Mary Louisa (Bishop) Williams, 87, of Riverton, Wyoming died Tuesday, May 18, 1976 at Fremont Manor Nursing Home. She was born July 29, 1888 in Ohio, a daughter of Addison N. and Louisa A. (Posey) Bishop.

(Information from 1900 Richland County Census indicates the Bishop family lived in Noble, Illinois at that time.)

Mrs. Williams moved to Wyoming when she was 17 years old and was the first teacher at the Bessemer Bend School near Casper. She came to Riverton in 1932. On October 20, 1944 she married Lisle Williams, who died in 1973.

Survivors are four daughters, Marilyn Welling of Washington, Wanda Lucas of Riverton, Rhea Paxton of Manderson and Irma McGuire of Lander; three sons, Vance Preston of California, Kenneth Williams of Dubois and Arthur Williams of Montana; one sister, Mrs. Marie Wolford of Ventura, California and also one brother, Paul Bishop of Thermopolis; 24 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Services held at the Davis Funeral Home with burial in Mountain View Cemetery in Riverton, Wyoming.
