Katherine Louise Rogers, age 83 of Newton passed away at 4:26 p.m., Wednesday, July 17, 2013 at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Effingham, IL. Graveside services in the Hankins Cemetery, rural Jasper County with Pastor Tom Matson, officiating.
Katherine was born on September 7, 1929 in Olney, Illinois the daughter of Walter and Bernadine (Smith) Bostic. On August 7, 1973, she married Marvin Rogers. He preceded her in death. For thirty-four years, Katherine worked for the Olney Shoe Factory. She later worked in community care until her retirement. She was a member of the New Beginnings Church, Newton.
She will be loved and remembered by her son Arthur Doty of Willow Hill; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two step-daughters Kala Chapman of Newton , Carolyn "Cookie" Doan of Olney, Marilyn Bergbower of Stillwater, OK; three sisters Marilyn Brown of Effingham, Joann Sanders of Charleston, IL, and Sandra Berger of Dade City, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Her parents, husband, two daughters Kathy McGee and Janice Rogers, step-son Jim Rogers, step-daughter Sandra Fancil and three sisters Betty Patterson, Patricia Wagner, and Edith Aldridge preceded her in death.
