Granville Hurn Howard, 72, a native of Olney, died at LaJunta, Colorado, Monday (August 1970) at his home following a heart attack, two weeks prior to his death.

Word of his death was received by relatives and by officials of Olney Masonic Lodge.

Funeral and burial held Friday at LaJunta.

Mr. Howard was born June 24, 1898,  the son of the late Attorney J. C. and Abbie Howard. He was a 1916 graduate of Olney Township High School and also graduated from the University of Illinois. He had lived away from Olney for fifty years except for a brief time during World War II.

He was a member of Olney Lodge No. 140 A.F. & A.M. which awarded him a fifty-year medallion a few months ago.

He is survived by his wife, Iva, several step-children and a sister, Mrs. Adeline Stockton, living in California.

John D. 'Bud' Hurn and Mrs. Lucille Smith of Olney are cousins to the deceased and Mrs. Luther (Hulda) Hurn of Olney, is an aunt.
