DAVON SMITH, 76, of Pekin and formerly of Olney died Saturday morning (June 30, 1973) at the Pekin Memorial Hospital.

He is remembered by older residents as he played in his father's kid band many years ago and also played with Cummins Municipal Band. He left Olney about the time of World War I and had lived in Pekin, Villa Grove and Champaign after leaving here.

Funeral services at Keith Funeral Home, Villa Grove with burial in Villa Grove Cemetery.

Mr. Smith was born August 14, 1896 in Milford Junction, Ind., a son of Fred and Grace Whitmer Smith. He was a member of the Pekin First United Methodist Church. He was a World War I Navy veteran. He was a retired employee of the Commonwealth Edison Company in Pekin.

He married Dency E. Patrick on November 30, 1933 in Villa Grove. She survives.
