Wendell Stanley Muncie - Class Of 1915

Dr. Wendell Stanley Muncie, for 30 years a consultant in psychiatry at Springfield State Hospital in Sykesville, Maryland, died at his Sykesville home last Tuesday, October 30, 1984 of heart failure.

The 86 year old Muncie had a distinguished career in psychiatry, mostly with Johns Hopkins University Hospital in Baltimore and with Seton Institute also in Baltimore. In addition to a private practice from 1947 to 1980, he served as a psychiatric consultant at Springfield from 1953 to 1983.

Dr. Muncie was honored at a special service at All Faith Chapel, Springfield. He was eulogized by many of the people whose lives he touched.

Dr. Muncie was born December 7, 1897 in Paris, Illinois son of Reveremd William R. and Sarah C. (Varley) Muncie. He married Rachel Naomi Cary in Knox County Ohio in 1927. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic.

Survivors include his wife, Rachel and daughter, Bridget Muncie. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Burial in Wesleyan Chapel Cemetery in Aberdeen, Maryland.
