Dr. W.C. Petty, 93, Antioch, died Wednesday January 1, 1992 at the Birch Hill Nursing Home, Shawano, Wisc.  Burial in Hillside Cemetery.

Mr. Petty was born November 7, 1898 in Richland County, the son of Francis M. and Rosetta (West) Petty. He married Lillie Murphy June 3, 1923 in Fairland and she preceded him in death.

Mr. Petty graduated from Olney Township High School, Illinois State Normal University, the University of Chicago Lake Forest College. He began teaching in country schools in Richland County in 1919.

Through the years he served as principal, county superintendent for 40 years, and the Dean of the Illinois County Superintendents of Schools.

Survivors include three sons, Frank E. Petty, Los Angeles, Calif.; William E. of Antioch; Dr. R. David M.D., Shawano, Wisc.; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers, Ray, Harry and Bert; two sisters, Ruby and Mabel; and one infant brother.
