MARCELLA BAHL, 16, KILLED IN ACCIDENT NEAR STE. MARIE ~ A one-car accident early Sunday morning September 5, 1965, took the life of sixteen-year-old Marcella Louise Bahl, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Bahl of Rt. 1, Dundas.  It is believed she was killed instantly.

The accident occurred at about 12:10 a.m. Sunday, approximately four miles south of Ste. Marie on the blacktop.  Miss Bahl was a passenger in the car driven by Gregory Phillips, 18, of Noble.

According to investigating Illinois State Police, the car was proceeding south on the blacktop when it ran off the west edge of the road into a bridge railing. The railing passed through the entire right side of the vihicle. It was raining at the time of the accident.

Phillips was admitted to Richland Memorial Hospital and is listed in "fair" condition this morning.

Marcella Bahl was born on September 4, 1949. She was a junior student at East Richland High School.

Besides her parents she is survived by seven brothers and sisters, Norma, Jerome, Joyce, Donna, Fred, Annette and Richard, all at home.

Also surviving are grandparents, Mrs. Veronica rennier of Oblong and Mr. and Mrs. Noah Bahl of West Liberty.

The Funeral Mass held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Stringtown with Rev. Fr. Stephen Roedder officiating. Interment in the church cemetery.
