Walton Wood Rose - Class Of 1924

Walton Wood Rose, 91, of Atlanta, Ga., formerly of Parkersburg and Olney, died Friday June 27, 1997. Services were held on his 92nd birthday, July 1 at the Peachtree Christian Church in Atlanta, Ga.

Rose was born July 1, 1905 in Parkersburg, Illinois. He married Anna Balmer.

He was a graduate of Richland County School and University of Illinois, where he received his master's degree in agricultural economics. Later, he served as treasurer and president of the Atlanta Illini Club. Before his retirement, he was assistant administrator of the Southeast Region of the Department of Economics and Market Analysis of H.U.D. He was an Elder Emeritus of the Peachtree Christian Church where he was a member for 56 years.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, formerly of Olney; two daughters and sons-in-law Dr. and Mrs. Joseph I. and Louise Miller Jr. and Paul A. and Martha Vickers Jr.; five grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Glenn and Marjorie Rose Swinson of Tucson, Ariz.; brother and sister-in-law, Wendell and Frances Rose of Olney; sister-in-law, Mrs. Gilbert Rose of Wilson, N.C. and Mrs. Walter (Clara Balmer) Treece of Cincinnati, Ohio and nieces and nephews, many of whom live in the area.
