Sherman Melvin Jones, 86, of Freeport, Illinois died Sunday, December 27, 1993 in Freeport Memorial Hospital. He was born November 11, 1906 a son of Alfred and Leona M. (Witte) Jones. He married Gladys Stieneke and she passed away in 1975.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Jones; brother, Clifford H. Jones; sisters, Florence A. Jones, Flo R. Nelson and Irene Shipman.

Sherman is survived by brother, Loren P. Jones.

He was a World War II veteran, having served with the Army Signal Corps in the European Theatre and was former commander of VFW Post 998.

He worked for W.T. Rawleigh Co. 41 years as a pressman before retiring.

Services at Burke-Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport with burial in Oakland Cemetery.
