Eugene Harper - Class Of 1925

Eugene Nicholas Harper, 68, of Rockford passed away Tuesday March 2,1976 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Madison, Wisconsin.

He was born July 25, 1907 in Calhoun, son of Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Harper.

Surviving are his wife, Louella Brant Harper; a daughter, Mary Jean Cox of Largo, Fla.; the following step-sons, Allen Harris of Rockford, Gary Harris of Woodville, Wisc. and Gene Harris of Parkersburg; several step-grandchildren and a brother, Kenneth Harper of East Alton.

He was employed with the Illinois State Employment Service while living in Olney and was manager of the Rockford office of ISES.

Mr. Harper was a 1925 graduate of Olney Township High School and had operated a store in Calhoun at one time. He was a veteran of World War II.

He was a member of the American Legion, Center Shrine Club, Olney Masonic Lodge, Disabled American Veterans and past state commander of the 40 & 8.
